Is Port Orange Property Tax Increase In Our Future ???
Bob,
The preliminary numbers released by the Property Appraisers office as regards Port Orange are as follows.
Total increase in value of $88.7 million or 2.7% comprised of $24.5 million in new construction and $64.2 million in increased assessed value of existing properties which represents a 1.95% increases in those assessed values.
The Manager’s “ bump” of an additional $100,000 over what was estimated at the budget workshop assumes that additional revenue is going to be raised on the $64.2 million in increased assessed values.
Increased revenue on that assessed value increase constitutes a tax increase for those properties something I had thought Council had said was not going to happen.
Have you or any other member of Council advised the Manager he should be counting on increased revenues from a property tax increase on existing property in Port Orange now being assigned a higher assessed value ??

Bob: We believe the bump in Port Orange property values will generate an additional $80 to $100K over what we had estimated at the budget workshop. Wayne, please correct me if I am wrong. As you know May/June numbers can change quite a bid from late June/early July numbers.
