Man throws ax at car during Daytona Beach road rage incident

DAYTONA BEACH —
Daytona Beach Police are searching for a man who reportedly wielded an ax at four passengers driving to the flea market.
Police were called out to the report of an assault on Friday, June 14 on South Williamson Boulevard at Beville Road.
The juvenile victims told the reporting officer that they were driving northbound on S. Williamson Blvd. towards the flea market, when a man approached the passenger side of the car and began yelling obscenities at them and accused them of calling his racist names.
According to the incident report, the victims denied yelling anything and said the man then yanked the passenger door open and yelled “I just did 15 years in prison, you want a pistol in your mouth?”
The victims tried to clear the intersection when, they said, the man retrieved a large roofing ax from his vehicle and then threw it through the victims’ rear passenger window.
Glass shattered all over the victims and the ax narrowly missed striking one of them.
The victims escaped into nearby Pelican Bay complex and notified the police. Investigators responded and immediately collected evidence and searched for the accused man’s vehicle, to no avail.
Victims described the assailant as a black man, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 250 to 300 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a green uniform, with black boots and a baseball cap and was driving a white two-door Ford F150.
