Accused ATM robber nabbed near Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. —Authorities made a quick arrest after an ATM robbery in Daytona Beach.
Bank of America, Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach police officers say a thief threatened a bank patron with a gun overnight.
Volusia County sheriff’s deputies helped police find 21-year-old Nickki Pierre Charles with the help of their helicopter.
Deputies said the armed robbery happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of the Bank of America on West International Speedway Boulevard.
Investigators said Pierre Charles demanded all of the woman’s money and then forced her to withdraw more. He then ordered her to drive away fast or he would harm her, police said.
Pierre Charles was arrested after a short foot chase, though police said he resisted by twisting the neck of a police canine. He had a cut on his head, according to authorities.
Money was found in Pierre Charles’ shoe, according to officers. He is charged with resisting arrest, robbery with a deadly weapon, battery on a law enforcement officer and harming a police animal.
Deputies said there have been other robberies in the same area, and they are looking at a possible connection.
