Port Orange News Flash:  Property Tax Increase for most ……

Lori: We are proposing to leave the tax rate the same. Because of the appreciation in the tax base this will generate about $200,000 in new revenue. The only Port Orange residents that will see their tax bill increase is the ones that have seen their property values increase.  We have a budget workshop on Saturday, the 13th for the Mayor and City Council to review the proposed budget and provide us feedback on the tax rate.  The City Council has to authorize the advertised tax rate and this will come at a public meeting later this month.

Mr Kisela is starting to pull out the old bag of tricks used by Ken Parker. Greg is somewhat disingenuous in his response to your inquiry about Property Tax Increases. He tries to mislead you and the public by saying the recent increase in the tax rate will generate only about? $200,000 in new revenue but fails to honestly reply to your question about Property Tax Increases resulting from any increase in the city budget.
A honest answer would be a statement that last years City of Port Orange budget was $xxx ; and this years city budget will be about $yyy a total increase of $1.6 million etc.
