PORT ORANGE POLICE HOST THE 2013 NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME BLOCK PARTY

The Port Orange Police Department will be hosting its 8th annual “National Night Out Against Crime”
Block Party on Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Port Orange City Center Complex.
National Night Out Against Crime is a unique crime and drug prevention event.  This event was designed over 29 years ago to heighten crime and drug prevention and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.   Traditionally, a display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils take place with cities, towns, and neighborhoods celebrating National Night Out with a variety of events. In keeping with this traditional event, the Port Orange Police Department will host its annual “Block Party” for all to enjoy, giving drugs and crime a going away party.
Join your friends, neighbors, and members of the Port Orange Police Department on Tuesday, August 7th at the National Night Out Against Crime Block Party. Displays and presentations will be made by the Port Orange Police Department’s canine officers, traffic division, marine unit, emergency response team, Volunteers in Police Services and the Port Orange Police Explorers. Additionally, the Port Orange Fire and Rescue Department will be demonstrating the “Fire Smoke Trailer”. There will be kid’s games and food vendors on hand.
Additionally, clowns will be available for face painting. McGruff “the Crime Dog”, Daytona Cubs mascot “Cubby”, Chick- Fil- A cow ” will make a special appearance. Moon Bounce inflatable and “Dunk the Cop” dunk tank will also be available.  Halifax Hospital of Port Orange will be assisting with Blood Pressure checks and shuttle service to and from the event.
