Port Orange Police Explorer Post #2445 Now Taking Applications!!

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 28 FROM 6- 730 PM AT POPD
The mission of the Port Orange Police Explorers is to provide in-depth, firsthand experience into the field of law enforcement and the criminal justice system. This will be accomplished by the utilization of classroom presentations, practical field exercises and other training aids. Explorers of the Post shall serve the public and the Port Orange Police Department and all its employees.
Police Explorers assist in various community functions, such as directing traffic at City Center functions, parking cars during special events, city road cleanup program, and other community service details. The Post is chartered through the Boy Scouts of America and is intended to benefit young men and women between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age.
Members of the Post are eligible to enroll in the Criminal Justice Operations I and II program, offered at Spruce Creek High School and Atlantic High School. (See your school guidance counselor to register) Class meetings are after school, at the Police Department training room. Students enrolled in either class are eligible to receive high school credit in addition to documented community service for hours worked as an Explorer.
