A Volusia County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant has been arrested on a charge of grand theft after he was accused of stealing while he was president of his homeowner’s association in Port Orange.
Brian Nardiello, 39, was sentenced to two years probation and forfeited his law enforcement certification after the plea.
Nardiello stole thousands of dollars from a Port Orange homeowners association early this year, while serving as its president.
Port Orange police said they were made aware of the theft in May 2012 after a CPA firm noticed questionable expenses when it was doing the books for the association, the police report said.
He is repaying the $8,500 in an arrangement worked out privately
