PORT ORANGE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR ITS JANUARY 2014 CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY
The Port Orange Police Department will be presenting its 9th Citizen Police Academy beginning on January 27, 2014. The Departments Citizen Police Academy is a training and educational program offered to residents of Port Orange to provide familiarization with the operations and components of the police department. Participants are not trained to become police officers.
The Citizen Police Academy will meet on Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Police Department training classroom located at 4545 Clyde Morris Boulevard. One Saturday morning (TBD) is required for the handgun safety course and live fire. The program begins on January 27, 2014 and concludes with a graduation ceremony at the completion of the program on March 25, 2014.
Representatives from the police department will instruct the participants in a variety of subjects and topics throughout the ten week program. Participants will have the opportunity to view demonstrations of police operations, practices and equipment.
