traffic-Jam1Port Orange – A local road project—the new extension of Yorktowne Boulevard in Port Orange—is opening and changes are in store for motorists along Dunlawton Avenue/State Road (SR) 421, especially at the Taylor Branch Road intersection.
The new extension of Yorktowne Boulevard will open later this month, providing a new way to access Dunlawton Avenue from Taylor Branch Road and the neighborhoods to the south. As part of the traffic flow improvements in the area, left turn lanes from Taylor Branch Road to westbound Dunlawton Avenue are closing. Motorists on Taylor Branch Road will be directed to turn right onto Dunlawton Avenue. Drivers on Taylor Branch Road will now be able to access Interstate 95 and areas to the west by turning onto the new extension of Yorktowne Boulevard across from Boggs Ford Rd.
During construction, there may be temporary lane closures near the intersection of Taylor Branch Road and Dunlawton Avenue. Message signs and temporary detour signs are in place to guide drivers. The new extension of Yorktowne Boulevard is expected to open to the public on Monday, August 26.
