A Central Florida couple was arrested Thursday after deputies say they choked and robbed a woman of her prescription drugs.
Rachel Rose, 27, agreed to drive two woman to a pharmacy in Clermont for $50 so the victim could pick up her medication, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.
The woman told investigators she had paid Rose for similar errands in the past.
Rose surprised the women on Aug. 12, though, and showed up with her boyfriend, Stephon Doby, 29, who deputies say “started choking one of the victims with her dress and bra straps and demanding her pills.”
The victim passed her pills to her friend, but Doby attacked the passenger, twisting her arm and prying the bottle from her hand, investigators said.
The women jumped out of the car and Doby chased behind them briefly before getting back in the car with Rose and ditching the women, according to a sheriff’s office report.
Later that day Rose called one of the women and threatened to kill her dog, the report said.
The couple was arrested on Thursday. Doby was charged with robbery and attempted robbery and Rose was charged with being a principal to robbery.
Doby was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on a $40,000 bond and Rose was booked on a $5,000 bond.
