Phone message sent from school to Port Orange parents with children at Silver Sands Middle School
Port Orange parents with children at Silver Sands Middle School received an automated message from the school principal about a possible sighting of a suspicious person on school grounds.
Principal Rose Roland recorded a message that parents received about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday after some kids reported seeing a suspicious man on school grounds.
Port Orange police were unable to find anyone at the school grounds after they were contacted by the school’s resource deputy about 11:20 a.m.
“Right now the report is unsubstantiated,” Capt. David Meyer said.
Roland’s message let parents know no suspicious person was found.
