"Delusions of Control"

In complex situations, we may rely too heavily on planning and forecasting and underestimate the importance of random factors in the environment.  That reliance can also lead to delusions of control.

hank4Hank thinks P O city managers have relied too much in the past on self serving auditors. Now city council people urge auditors to do a true audit which uncovers negative elements of the city’s operations.
Isn’t that neat? Demand the truth from auditors!  Imagine that!
And delusions of control?  I am convinced that the generation in power now, all over this nation, cave in to Ayan Rand’s philosophy, that employees should take on responsibilities without memos and orders from management.  More and more I think we are seeing that in a lot of cases we are paying management too much money to be functioning without control of their employees.
Team players need a captain. Where is the captain to step up and take control with inspections of his work force?
