Two Problems & One Key ( for now )

problemsPort Orange has 2 problems – Green and Kisela and 1 key  – Burnette.  That will likely change after the elections this year and Burnette will become as irrelevant as Kennedy is and has been for years.
The sleazy back room deals of Green that have not benefited Port Orange residents and his 30 year history of construction kick-backs in adjoining jurisdictions are well known, as are the equally sleazy and self promoting antics of the ICMA and their Manager In Trouble lifesaver program.
We need to be unrelenting in our distain and exposure of these two crooks and that is exactly what they are as the lie and cheat the taxpayers of Port Orange for their and their friends personal gain.  Sure everything they do is all nice and legal but then again they make the law and stealing with a pen is every bit as much a theft as stealing with a gun.
The question however is why Council has not clipped these ‘should be jailbirds’ and for that answer we have to look to the most childish person on Council – Don Burnette.
Green is easy to figure – he has been lining his pockets for years.  Kennedy is even easier to figure – he has been Greens useful idiot for years.  Ford and Bastian are easy to figure – they would vote and lose  3-2 to fire Kisela and reign in Green in a New York minute.
And that brings us to  Burnette.  Why does he continue to signal his support for Green and Kisela and their BUDDY in every important respect.
Is there any hope for Burnette or do we have to wait for Kennedy’s replacement to count to three to start placing taxpayer interests ahead of the Green’s greed, Kisela’s incompetence and Burnett’s ambition.
Some insight would be helpful here.

Who knows, maybe Burnette has some aspirations of benefiting from the $1000,000,000 Riverwalk Deal. If it goes through to fruition maybe we will find out just what that might be. Imagine if the condominium sales office drives all the mortgage business to a preferred mortgage brokerage firm and that turns out to be the one that Don Burnette is the head loan officer at?
Don Burnette would never be that complicit and crooked! As a matter of fact an honest man like Don Burnette who is only interested in his constituencies best interest would never personally profit off a deal like Riverwalk. Who thinks Mr. Burnette would be willing to demonstrate his above board honesty and willingly sign an agreement that he and the firm he is connected with will not be involved in any way in procuring or facilitating any of the mortgages connected with Riverwalk condominium sales. I am sure an honest man like him would be just as willing as Allen Green to guarantee that his son or him will never profit in any way through subcontractor work in the development of Riverwalk. If any of them profit in the future that would demonstrate collusion and dishonest personal gain. We as citizens should ask them to demonstrate their honesty and sign such an agreement that they will never receive any personal gain for the development or sale of any part of Riverwalk. If they are honest politicians that have nothing to hide you would think they would be willing to jump at the chance to demonstrate that. And in the case of Don Burnette, you would think that demonstrating this would be even more important before an election.

My understanding is that Don Burnette might get re-elected unopposed. The word on the street is that Corey Berman is dropping out of the race. Anyone out there in district 1 interested in running? Qualifying is week of June 16-20. Please do not let this egomaniac get re-elected unopposed. I don’t think I could stand another 4 years of listening to him talk about himself or his kids anymore. Someone needs to put a muzzle on him at the council meetings. Never saw anyone who loves to hear himself talk like he does. Sickening to listen to him. Someone in district 1, please declare.

I am not sure if he lives in that district, but I would love to see Richard Woodman run. This dude is no nonsense and there is no lie in him. He knows the inner workings of the city and would be a nightmare for anyone corrupt within the organization. We need someone on council that doesn’t have their hand in the citizen’s proverbial cookie jar. Lets call for Don Burnette to make a declaration that he will not profit in any way shape or form in the financial benefit in real estate mortgage financing from the Riverwalk condominium development. If Richard Woodman is not interested in becoming politically active, I can think of a few current employees nearing retirement that are, and they will serve the citizens without self interest and have comprehensive knowledge of what needs to be done to clean up the city.

I think Burnette is district 2. I live in Bob Ford’s district. I have been asked by a number of people to run for council. No thanks. I can’t tolerate the shady BS, the dishonest management and I’m not willing to surrender my integrity for some false sense of power. I would have to make it my mission to rid the city of the mayor and current management and restore honesty and integrity to our government. We all know that would not go over too well. I know way too much about how the city is run from the inside after 36 years as a city employee/manager.
There would be a fight at every meeting until the insidious cancer was gone or they ran me off of the council. As a council member you must put your duty to the citizens first and always no matter if it means not being re-elected. I would not accept donations from developers or anyone that stands to make a buck off the city. I have nothing to gain, I have no business interests or connections and no hidden agenda. My only interest would be serving the city. So I guess that disqualifies me as a politician.

Someone call Mary and see if she wants her old council seat back.
