A Re-post From Last Year – It Seems It Is Not Getting Any Better
Does Port Orange need a City Council and Mayor?
Resident says:
Here we go again. Why does Port Orange need a City Council and Mayor? The previous manager railroaded the taxpayers for millions and gave himself and the responsible parties a nice padded retirement. Council didn’t like it but had no say it was the Managers call.
The new City manager lets the former Public Utility Director resign with retirement and then tells council he granted himself and others fraudulent time to the tune of a quarter million dollars. Council doesn’t like it but again not their call. Now the mowing issues. Will we once again find that Council has no say? The allegations are serious if they are indeed facts.
It appears the new Manager has picked up right where the old one left off. There seems to be a vision disconnect between our Council and Managers. It is shameful for this type of behavior to continue. It is time for City Council to get a grip and operate this City in a responsible fashion. That is what they were elected to do.
It’s apparent the Council members have a very, very short memory.Parker, Shelly, Roger Smith, Betty Barnhart, the little red book, etc, etc. a big scandal and not so long ago. We citizens haven’t forgotten any of this believe me.
Now we are presented with an even bigger scandal. If it is true that the City council is allowing CM Greg Kisela to orchestrate his own “internal control” investigation to be run by ICMA’s Kelton and disgraced Ex-Manager Ken Parker then this is ludicrus, horrifying, immoral, illegal and just plan insane. After all that has come out about Kisela and his connections to ICMA how could this all be possible?????
As a taxpayer and homeowner in Port Orange I am incensed beyond belief and am the point that I am contemplating going to the TV Media, News Journal and also contacting the Attorney General’s Office. Don’t think I won’t and don’t tihink many other residents won’t because we are all fed up. Fire Kisela and get it over with and let the city heal.
If Council can’t do their jobs honestly then maybe the above post is correct.
Margaret,
This is the 2nd time you have threatened to go to the Attorney General and yet you have done nothing, so I am assuming you have no desire to do that so stop saying you are. Unless you are willing to back up your threats with actions then please stop threatening. I understand this is a “I hate Port Orange Government” website but still at least back up what you say you are going to do.
I love how you say Parker is disgraced but he is still in Port Orange, I see him all the time and he seems fine to me, he sits on boards, teaches and volunteers in schools (Seems really scared that he is going to jail to me).
Dear Interested,
Sorry I misread the blog but the way things are goiing in Port Orange these days it is not too far fetched to think that maybe the Ex-CM would be involved in the internal investigation…that really would be insane. Bad enough Kisela wants his investigation to be run by the very person who recommended him for hiis current job., his ICMA buddy..that’s insane too.
You are probably one of the ones who got out with his pension intact leaving the city in financil turmoil so I guess that is why you are defending Parker. Incidently I never blogged about Pam Bondi before…must be another citizen who has the same idea.
