Hank Requests to Meet with Mayor Green
Mayor I would like to take you up on your offer to sit down with anyone and discuss issues. You made that offer during the Port Orange City Council Meeting of July 22 2014.
I agree to discuss with you any issue of your own you wish to speak about and I would like to discuss with you the following issues which concern me.
- Your avoidance of e mail correspondence.
- In a telephone conversation with you, we had discussed your communication with Mr. Parker during the time he was formatting the legal deal regarding benefits for the former finance Director, Mr. Shelly, in preparation for his resignation. I met with Mr. Parker one on one, after he had returned from Israel, and he had told me that a certain part of your rendition of your dialogue with Mr. Parker did not happen. I would like to discuss this with you. Also in regards to our telephone conversation you told me that you did not want to inform other city council members about the deal that was in the works, because you did not want city employees to leave their jobs en masse. We need to discuss that timeline as presented by you to me about employee morale at the time, because I find it is not correct.
- The efforts among you, Mr. Parker and Mr. Lacour to buy the Lohmann funeral home, and why no other member of the CRA was advised of the purchase until that group was asked to refund the purchase price to Mr. LaCour.
- Although you have a legal opinion that you need not recluse yourself in city matters concerning Mr. LaCour, the negative implications of perception in not removing you from input and votes on the Riverwalk Project.
- The jump by you in a city council meeting, or perhaps it was a CRA meeting, to volunteer to be the sole representative for city council members in exploring issues with Mr. LaCour.
- Construction work done for the city of Port Orange by yourself and your son.
- Your opinion of citizen activists.
- Your opinion of many negative issues being spoken about by the news media, blogs and people.
- Your opinion as to why more negative issues keep being found and why true reform has not yet been instituted in city government.
- Please clarify why you think people who want to keep taxes down are not “good citizens”.
- Please clarify why you do not approve of citizens bringing their complaints to city council people.
- Please explain your statement that Ted Noftall not being a good citizen was only part of the problem. Please expand on your complete problem.
- Please explain why you prefer that a city councilman not refer to the Master Developer by his name.
- Please explain why you would not let a citizen speak at a city council meeting, and you denied a city council man’s request to let the citizen speak.
- Please explain your perspective on why the landscaping service which had been performing good or at least satisfactory work for the city for many years, suddenly quit.
- If I think of more issues to discuss I will inform you so that you may be prepared to answer.
- I would like to bring a person to our meeting to only act as a witness on my behalf.
- Will you allow me to voice tape record our meeting and to video tape our discussion?
Please contact me as to when we can meet.

Wow, if you can pull this one off it would be worthy of Pay Per Television.
Good luck !
Hank, will you add to that an inquisition of the recent account of the mayor’s bridge building and property rehab windfall in which current employees who possibly witnessed this and may be willing to come forward have given meticulous detail and have indicated that Warren Pike may have intelligence into this historical incident?
Notwithstanding the mayor possibly has a legitimate explanation that might clarify this possible misunderstanding. Remember, that he that is faithful in small things is usually faithful in large things. On the other hand if one is found to be dishonest in small things by extrapolation their character will be amplified when the stakes get higher. See how he reacts to this, and remember a number of those employees that performed the work are still Port Orange employees.
It would be interesting to hear mayor Green’s response to that inquiry by you posted on the blog for these current employees to see. Some of them are coming very close to retirement and in the next year when they leave the city without the potential of any reprisals may publicly disagree with his account.
to IW: I would love to ask him about your issue. This is the first I have heard about it. Can you tell me more?
Hank, interesting council meeting. Allen Green says he never reads the blogs but he has a printed copy of something in his hand on POC TV and says in public that he has spoken to his attorney and that he is being maligned on the blog. You know that for the most part, legitimate questions about mayor Green have been asked on the blog, not allegations, but questions about what some may consider as being the appearance of improprieties. These are questions that mayor Green never seems to answer, but instead, tonight he has invited those people who may be posting these questions, to contact him and meet him face to face. This is after he has marauded through city hall spreading the word that if he can prove who his internal opposition is he will fire first and worry about legal ramifications later.
Down at city hall there is also an unspoken initiative that you will be rewarded as an employee to speak evil about Bob Ford and Drew Bastian but if you say anything downtown negative about Green, Burnette, Kennedy, or Kisela you are an enemy of the State. You can imagine how many incompetent, disingenuous, and obsequious employees without character or cojones are following this lead.
These questions I referred to are questions that mayor Green has been asked to answer and he has taken the position that he will not even dignify an answer.. If you look at the city’s civil service rules there is a section that says city employees should avoid even the appearance of impropriety. Every city employee is subject to answer in a meticulous inquisition about what might be initially misconstrued as the appearance of impropriety.
Ask John Diamond ex-public utility scapegoat and field operations superintendent. He was one of the headliners in the current, Parker, Shelley, Smith, Hooper meter replacement program. He was dismissed for lying to police in connection with allegations of improprieties yet unproven. More or less, guilty until proven innocent.
As the leader and figure head of this organization mayor Green should at least be held to this standard, which is the same standard that Warren Pike and Roger Smith were held too. Nobody should be considered sacrosanct and exempt from these immutable standards because these are the standards of integrity that have been promulgated for this organization.
Mayor Green also made mention to negative intelligence coming from within the organization. Intelligence as he indicated seemed to possess significant knowledge that should be redirected to positive endeavors instead of attacks on his organization. Does he mean that this intelligence should be redirected to non-transparency and becoming one of his team players? Open and transparent governance is here to stay and the passé cannot stem the tide of the evolution of human consciousness.
All I can say is that the city activists should redouble their efforts to composite all the information regarding the Halifax Paving Obfuscation. Greg Kisela has been doing damage control on this one, but the city is looking to get some consultation help to spin this obfuscation because the heat is on. Citizens activists are very close to getting to the bottom of this and they need to engage Lori Brown in an effort to force this to the next step of inquiry. The city council can be forced into doing an internal forensic audit regarding this apparent impropriety, but it will take the State Attorney’s office to compel an internal audit of Halifax Paving’s books. Keep up what you are doing because I think you are very close.
Thank you leviathan. interesting information which I may pursue.
Questions have arisen in blogs, sometimes from speculation. Some say there is no room for speculation when it comes to city politics, but speculation is the start of even a scientific discover, and is especially pertinent to the prohibition of public leaders not raising suspicions which may lead to a perception of misconduct. I would think that misconduct does not always have to be illegal.
Public leaders usually lose in a defamation civil trial, because the courts have held that public leaders can be held to a standard of inquiry which does not apply to non public leaders. I am not a lawyer and could be wrong, but I think that is the thinking by the courts when a public leader complains that his integrity is being maligned. I think it can be argued that the issue is the other side of a public figure conducting oneself in a way to lead to a perspective of negative things going on. And by golly, despite what the supporters of city hall think, there have been a lot of negative things going on.
Hank, I forget what day it is, either Monday or Friday morning, but why don’t you just toddle on down to Booths Bowery Restaurant as advertised and participate in the weekly meet the mayor breakfast. You can have an honest non-confrontational confrontation with him in front of his breakfast club and mutual admiration society. It would be lovely if Lori Brown could be there to audio video your session. Just show up there extemporaneously with Lori Brown for breakfast and see how receptive mayor Green is to interact with you as one of his constituency. I bet he will clam up and leave with his plate full of unfinished breakfast.
I had thought that the Mayor discontinued his breakfast meetings a long time ago, due to a lack of interest. I never attended those meetings because I do not care to go out that early in the morning. I had in my former profession gone to many early morning meetings and always hated them. I thought it was good that the mayor had such meetings and I was surprised that he did have such meetings. I can give him credit for making himself available to the public in such a setting.
I prefer the written word for two reasons. In the written word the basic thoughts and opinions come across, unfiltered by charm, personality, guile, and with less personality issues. Those are attributes that I do not excel in. I also prefer the written word, because it lends less to mis-interpretation and leaves a paper trail that is hard to deny.
There is a public read file of all correspondence to the City Manager.
Why not a public read file for the same to the Mayor ? This would force him to reply or the alternative – illustrate his total lack of any written response to citizens.
Mayor Green adamantly refuses to correspond via e mail or leave any type of paper trail.
More than likely those in the know are using e mail correspondence less.
When I hear a city council person say that he has received many phone calls about an issue I wish he would tell us exactly how many phone calls. At least on the blogs one can count the number of comments on an issue.
When will the Council Candidates link be completed ?
It has been under construction for weeks now, election time is fast approaching.
