Burnette actually wanted to short list McCrosky from Holly Hill ???
    Ford squashed that idiotic thought.

Thank goodness for that .When Burnett brought his name up twice I wondered if he personally knew the man and was pushing for him. As I said before he was disliked by both council and citizens alike in Holly Hill and made some poor decisions. He was on his way out when he resigned.

Sadly, Burnette is running for election unopposed. If Pee Wee Herman was running against him right now I would vote for Pee Wee. Unfortunately no one ran against him in his district because in order for true reform in city government Burnette needs to go.

Well initially Mr. Berman (aka Mr. Port Orange) was a candidate . That would have been similar to a vote for Pee Wee.
Yes it would be better if a viable candidate opposed Burnette.

I certainly hope you councilmen do a thorough and in depth background check before you hire anyone. I just read that Chapman was let go from Del Ray Beach with a $20,000 severance pay. Lord we don’t want to wind up with another one with a checkered past. Your computer searches can reveal plenty as they have just done on the past administration.

In my humble opinion most City Mangers carry baggage around. They all have short expiration dates. Lets just make sure the one we hire doesn’t attach himself to any one council member, that he is truly working for the citizens to straighten out this terrible mess and that he is preferably from private industry, definitely not ICMA.

Mazie, I think city managers work for city council members, and the city council members work for the citizens.

You are absolutely correct Hank but I think you get the gist of what I mean. The C /M does indeed work for the Council and the Council for the citizens but they have to work together to accomplish anything.

This is what we are going to get.. You think any qualified upstanding managers are going to want to work in this environment? Coming on with no department heads, disgruntled public and no-morale employees. What do you expect? We will get all the flunkies that no one else wants. Welcome to Port Orange. Enjoy your stay.
