Two Volusia County children and their father are dead following a murder-suicide at their home.
It happened around 5 a.m. Friday along Jackson Lane inside the Spruce Creek Farms subdivision.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said it started as a domestic argument between David Mohney, 52, and his wife, 48-year-old Cynthia Mohney. She fled to a neighbor’s house, saying he threatened her with a gun.
A short time later, gunshots rang out.
Deputies said Mohney shot his children, Lauren Mohney, 9, David Mohney, 11, and 14-year-old Savanna Mohney.
David was pronounced dead at the scene. Mohney and his daughter Savanna were transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach where they were both pronounced dead.
Lauren is in critical condition at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando.
Sheriff Ben Johnson said domestic violence reports have been filed within the family and an injunction was lifted back in June.
The wife is currently being interviewed at the operations center.

So how long until you conspiracy theorists blame Mayor Green and Sonya Laney for this?

Mr. Gerbil of course we will not blame Green and Laney for this. The family tragedy is beyond the pale of any Port Orange politics, but if it were relevant to Green and Laney we would have to take into account that mistakes do happen. A vote for Laney is a vote for honest mistakes and non judgmental accountability.

OMG! This was a horrific tragedy. You people need to grow up. It doesn’t matter if this happened in the County or with the City limits, that was a totally unnecessary comment. The gerbil comment doesn’t even deserve a response, you should be ashamed and find something else to do besides making such asinine comment about such something so horrible

Pardon some of the missing words, I’m sure I got my point across. I was just amazed the these kinds of comments were posted about something so terrible
