.
The manner in which Mayor Green addressed the citizens of Crane Lakes was typical of him and UNACCEPTABLE !
It is obvious that he was in bed with another powerbroker / developer in Berrien Beck. Let’s delay the traffic signal a bit longer until someone gets killed. Let’s argue over cost.
Call him out ! His condescending behavior toward citizens has gone on way too long.
Elect his God-daughter Sonya Laney and we will see a lot more of this disrespect of our senior citizens
After the manner in which King Green brushed off the Crane Lakes residents last night the last person in the world I’d vote for would be Sonya Laney. That would just add another disagreeable, pompous ass on the dias who sides with her God Fathers every idea.
It is oh so embarrassing to watch his bad behavior and nasty attitude when it is something he doesn’t want to discuss. As to who he is in bed with….the list is probably too long to publish on this blog.
IN REGUARD TO THE LIGHT AT CRANE LAKES. IT IS MUCH NEEDED. THE WAITING IS RIDULOUS. BUT MANY HAVE BEEN HURT IN CRASHES BECAUSE THEY PULL OUT AND ANOTHER CAR IS COMING UP BEHIND THE ONE TURNING IN. I HAVE SEE \N THIS WAY TOO MANY TIMES. IT IS ANNOYING TO SAY THE LEAST. WE NEED ONE HERE. IF THE MAYOR LIVED HERE THEN THERE WOULD BE ONE. HE NEEDS TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THESE PEOPLE ARE A LITTLE SLOWER ON THE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. SO PLEASE RE THINK THIS. IT IS NEEDED.
Jan, keep pushing and be vocal. You had great turnout of residents.
Don’t accept NO or keep waiting for an answer. Hold them accountable.
It is ironic to hear the Mayor talk about “obligations” at the end of the video. He has lost complete sight of who he is supposed to be obligated too. He no longer cares about what the community wants, needs or has interest for. He is moving to the sound of a drum that only he can hear. That entire council better look in the mirror and figure out quickly who they are “obligated” too. The Mayor is so out of touch with the community he is supposed to be representing. 2016 can’t get here soon enough!
I realize that City Council meetings must be run with a certain amount of decorum and Parlimentry procedures, but WHEN will someone, hopefully a Council member, call out the Mayor concerning his continuing pattern of terse and condescending behavior toward citizens ?
This man will never change and needs to be publicly admonished / censured.
10-10-14 utube video– Laney also made campagin promise to Crane Lakes residents they would get their light. A gentleman at meeting said they have been waiting for about 10 years!!!!!! Now “the green hornet” says builder has to get involved? Another “sting”!!!
But didn’t the Mayor say last night “it’s not a good idea to make promises”?
mad scientist see the video at Mayor Green, Bob Ford and Crane Lakes: video October 29, 2014

Fortunately, I think, their will be enough votes to go ahead without the former developer paying a share. Of course it has been forgotten that this was built and approved as it is and it is past time to bemoan not connecting ingress and egress or funding a future light. Poor planning, not watching out for the future. Just like what has happened with flooding, and drainage concerns, sewer lines, repaving in the aging parts of the city. The theme seems to be to build the new, forget the existing city, saving the money to build the new.
Just like the influx of retail establishments and businesses on Dunlawton ?
Quick build, poor infrastructure and problems going foreward ? That area is getting worse each day.
Newton do you think Green may have a grudge against the developer of Crane Lakes?
I can’t wait for the day when the Mayor’s term is up so that the citizens of Port Orange can say to him “YOU’RE DONE.”
mr angry. I don’t think we will ever be rid of Allen Green, even when he is out of politics.
What about the residents at Forest Lakes Preserves just west of Crane Lakes. Will they be promised a light if they complain also ?.
Ken, they won’t need a light because their intersection will also be afforded a chance to go out in spaced out traffic because of a light at Crane Lakes.
I wonder if the mayor tried to put the kibosh on that 4″ reuse water line that seems to have been run up Jackson Street with the sole destination of his proposed vineyard and winery. Remember the pond that was filled with thousands of dollars of free reuse water via Greg Kisela’s edict that was not offered to much more needy citizens? Lets have a contest and see who can come up with the best name for the mayor’s future wine. How about Greens Farm Plantation Strawberry Champipple?
Jan, is that true. Green is growing to grow grapes. I know he is an olive garden but I can’t see past the fence he has to see what else he is growing. Also, have you noticed all the Wendy’s garbage outside of his fence, which seems to be intentionally held in passing vehicles until they past the tall fence of the Green mansion?
In response to the residents of Crane Lakes requesting a light at their subdivision, I have a few questions?
1. Do they pay property taxes on their manufactured homes? I don’t think they do.
2. What about the residents coming out of Town West off of Williamson? They have been requesting a light for a very long time and there is just as much of a need there.
3. How about the Deep Forest/Sleepy Hollow area on Nova? A light there certainly would be warranted.
4. What is the vetting process for getting a light at a subdivision?
5. Does just bringing a large crowd of residents warrant the installation of a light? If that’s the case, every subdivision in Port Orange will be asking for a traffic light.
6. What about businesses in the City? A busy, successful business can certainly generate a lot of traffic. Should they be requesting a traffic light at their business?
This issue isn’t as simple as just granting the wishes of residents or making everyone happy. It takes planning and what works best for traffic for the whole community. Of course, all residents want to feel safe in traffic, but does that mean we have a traffic light at every subdivision and every business in Port Orange?
The leaders of the City need to be very careful about deciding what’s best for the City based upon a large crowd coming to Council meetings and making a request for their particular subdivision.
I’m sure most residents would agree these types of requests need a thorough review by planning, etc. and not just the needs or wants of one subdivision. All residents feel their needs are just as important.
Well Voter,
Crane Lakes has a taxable value of over 15 million dollars and will pay over $400,000.00 in property taxes this year. Over $80,000 goes to Port Orange drainage and stormwater and $76,000 to the city and $95,000 county general fund.
That is paid via their lot rents. They also pay a registration on mobile homes since they are not homesteaded on a rented lot.
Town West / Royal Palm is getting a light the paperwork is being processed.
Nova is a state road, I stand to be corrected but a light there was found not needed as you may make a right exit and U turn like on Dunlawton around Taylor branch road.
A traffic study must be conducted. Our moderator/host on this website could tell us volumes.
No fortunately. I do know enough to know that a light is not always the solution hence the study process. Of course that does not always work well either thinking of the Altmira mess.
If your business generates enough revenue to pay 400K in taxes. Or like any large project traffic flow is the concern from the proposal of the development.
As I recall in the dialog of the council meeting a study had already been done and showed need of a light but it was not funded. I have spent enough time but it was also in some the documents about this light.
