EXCELLENT Riverwalk Presentation, Now Don't Screw it up!

EXCELLENT Riverwalk Presentation by Shailesh Patel, Principal DMC

riverWalkPark
KUDOS to Mr. Patel and his staff for nailing the essence of Phase 1 and to:

Wayne Clark, Director of Development,
Susan Lovallo, Director of Parks & Recreation
and CoPO staff and managers.
Thank you for pointing out that there are other theme opportunities in Phase 2 and Phase 3. For example – Volleyball.
Again, EXCELLENT work in translating workshop contributions, translation to concept and to an execution plan.
 .
I encourage Council to approve with minimal modification and defer [volleyball] to either Phase 2 or Phase 3.
 .
Don’t screw up Phase “A” with trying to crowd in Volleyball.

You are correct Tom. An excellent presentation it was. The lead speaker explained some complicated categories and groupings and did a wonderful job.

Wow to think after all these years they may be on the right track ?
One area that was mentioned but never thought of apparently is the annual upkeep or maintainance. They need to develop financials for that before proceeding.

The arrogant councilmen who voted for what will soon be our next un-affordable boondoggle with out holding a referendum vote, as was properly required to increase City debt to finance a non-essential park, never stopped for even a monent to consider how the annual park maintenance cost was going to be covered.
If you figure annual maintenance cost to be in the 5% to 10% of the capital expenditure amount that equates to between $200,000 to $ 400,000 per year. Can you spell TAX INCREASE !!

The only person on Council who realized that the park would come with a massive annual maintenance cost along with the opportunity to slip in some infrastructure for his buddy BUDDY was the Mayor who never met a higher fee or tax that he did not like.
Not un-expectedly the rest of the herd were focused on the eye candy. Thanks a lot Bob, Don, Drew and Dennis.
