Commentary by Hank Springer:
I have been told that in June 2014 there had been a meeting about golf course renovations consisting of Kemper Sports, Greg Kisela and Mayor Green. The Chairman of the Golf Course Board, Councilman Ford was not invited to this meeting. Perhaps in this instance Mayor Green was basking in the Sunshine Law. In any case I am told at another Golf Board meeting the Chairman of the Golf Course Board, Councilman Ford expressed his dismay about a meeting that he was not privy to.
I have been told that in Oct. 2014 there was another meeting of Green, Harden and Kemper Sports to discuss renovations to the golf course clubhouse. Again, this meeting was not attended by the chairman of the Golf Board, Councilman Ford.
It is a sad commentary that such private meetings have been held, and no information about them has been made public. Dare we call them secret meetings? I am sure I will be told by someone that there was nothing secret about them at all.
I am particularly distressed that Councilman Ford has not disclosed at a city council meeting that such meetings had been held without Ford attending. Ford’s transparency with the city council and the citizens has now been subjected to scrutiny. Seems like Old Times, having you around me – Arthur Godfrey’s theme song many years ago.
The city council as of 12 10 14 has not voted approval of clubhouse renovations.
I am open to corrections about my information and any insight that can be contributed.
