Nova Road Median Landscape Neglect?

I took these photos @ 10am Friday May 3, 2015,  While taken the photos I noticed someone in a city pick-up truck taken a cell phone photo of me taken these photos.  Surprise; surprise, by mid day a crew was at that location cutting the weeds.  Why did he or other city management not take a few photos or be concerned with this problem a few days; weeks or months before I got there
oops
Yes, landscape on the medians of another major Port Orange road have been completely destroyed by City neglect. Tens of thousands of dollars wasted by poor maintenance.
The Palm Trees and other landscape were replaced just a few years ago via a grant from the State to the City of Port Orange.
At some locations on the medians the weeds were almost 3 feet high.  I took these pictures on Friday May 3, 2015 after I watched a small stray dog cross the median somewhat unseen by oncoming motorist because of the high weeds
If this was your front yard I am sure the Code Enforcement personnel would issue you a summons.  Perhaps Code Enforcement should have issued a summons to the Public Works Department for a code violation.

After I was spotted taken photos, by early afternoon the weeds were cut. But if you take a close look you will see that very little grass  remains.  Weeds have almost completely taken over the medians from the viable turf grass that was there just a few years ago (click for close up view)  Looks green but ……

Hank to Pat. It has been amazing to me, the attitude of city hall and its supporters have assumed towards negative issues, citizens’ complaints, questions, comments and opinions. But it seems to me that most governmental agencies assume such a defensive and uncooperative stance. When did our government become loyal with special financial interests and almost traitors to its citizens? It looks to me that we are melding into some kind of dictatorship/bogus democracy, where corporations are treated as persons.

WOW — They say a picture is worth a thousand words.
After last years problems with Dunlawton medians I can’t wait to hear the Mayor and council explain these

What do you know! Public Works are trimming the Palm trees today! Only 16 days after I wrote and 10 after the complaint was “completed”! What will it take, what will it cost to just have things done right and in a timely manner? Are enough of our councilmen interested enough to find out or just let our city decline for lack of interest and effort?
We shall see Budget 2016 is being prepared, contracts should be being reviewed and rewritten.

Thanks Newt for staying on this issue. It seems that city administration are not concerned about city council members complaints. Probably they get their cues from Mayor Green who has said on TV that citizens should not take their complaints to the city council, but to city departmental administrators. The other factor is that because the mayor said that he had contacted an attorney about scurriolous things written about him on blogs, that the mayor , although he does not know how to work a computer, takes seriously complaints publicized on blogs. Thus a satisfactory outcome to your complaint as a result of public airing on this blog. Let there be no mistake about it: the old boy network is not happy with the free speech allowed to flourish on this web site. Free speech on the internet has changed the complexion of city politics.
