Dear Branford,
I read your recent attached memo which states “the current maintenance backlog of retention ponds is at least 7 years”.
Pursuant to that statement, can you answer the following questions for me please?
1. What is the total number of retention ponds in the city of P ort Orange?
2. Can you break them down into several (maybe 5?) different size categories, largest to smallest?
3. How many of the retention ponds, within each category are in need of maintenance?
4. What type of maintenance do each of them need?
5. Approximately how long will it take for each type of maintenance and each size of pond?
When you were addressing Dr. Bob Ford’s questions at the workshop last Tuesday about needed personnel, I thought I understood you to say that there was little archival data available to draw from to make any inferences on what had been done, when it had been done, what needed to be done, etc. Hence my request for clarification on how you arrived at the statement: “the current maintenance backlog of retention ponds is at least 7 years”.

wow maybe you could ask more of the new man on the job, I love how you ask so specifically to break it into 5 different size groups. Maybe you should ask why the state has not fixed the drainage problem on a state road. I am sure its so much easier blame someone local why the state road and drainage failed instead of asking the state why it failed. I think it is getting out of control on how to blame local men and women about questions that should be asked of the state but I guess you do not care what they say because they will not answer you or you never asked them. I think this city has spoiled there residents so much that a small group of the citizens has become spoiled brats!! just my opinion, not meant to offend, just stating a fact! I think if you guys hate port orange so much and that there services are so horrible you should move to a much better city.

You guys keep mentioning that the State should participate in solving the Dunlawton flooding problem. ***NEWS FLASH*** Both the State and Federal governments gave Port Orange Officials the millions of dollars to fix the flooding problem at that location. Port Orange Officials wasted that money and screwed-up the project BIG time.
The only mistake the State and Feds made was thinking our local officials could do the job.
I agree with you, I don’t think the city should get money from anyone to fix state roads or county roads. The reason the state and county give the city money is because they know how messed up the situation is and don’t want to have to spend the proper amount to fix the problem. If the state gave them millions, chances are it would take twice that much to fix it properly. So news flash right back at you. If someone gives you money to fix thier problem, they know it would cost much more then that to fix the problem and now they don’t have to take the blame.
