Is This Another Prank on Taxpayers? Or Does the City Feel We Just Need a Good Laugh Once in Awhile?

Year after year, for the past 26 years the Port Orange Finance Department received the award as shown on the front page of the city web site.
WHY ?? …
Only because someone in the Finance Dept. used taxpayers funds to pay annual dues to this organisation. All government agencies that pay their annual dues receives this fake award yearly for use as propaganda. How many other scam associations are city staff expending taxpayers funds on, for the sole purpose of receiving these type fake awards. “Tree City – USA” also comes to mind.
The City Council should conduct an audit on the total cost of all the organizations city staff are annually funding, and for what purpose.

Port Orange needs to stop paying annual dues to these type associations when their only function is to provide phony annual awards to those that pay that fee.

This award is received by the city in June of each year. Someone must have pulled it out of the drawer to impress the new city manager. LOL
