Port Orange, Fla ….

Jayzel Andrew Hendrieth, 28, was on probation for attempted first-degree murder and robbery when he grabbed a girl on her way to Silver Sands Middle School in the Port Orange area on Aug. 26.
Then he started punching the unidentified girl, who fought back.
The Daytona Beach man was convicted of child abuse, attempted sexual battery on a child and false imprisonment.
“The child forcefully fought her attacker when a Silver Sands Middle School employee arrived on scene, causing the defendant to flee,” the State Attorney’s Office said in a statement. “Several eyewitnesses were able to identify the defendant by his appearance, his clothing, and a backpack that that defendant was wearing.”
After leaving prison, he will be placed on sex-offender probation for 20 years.
It happened about 8 a.m. after the girl was dropped off at the middle school on Herbert Street, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said at the time.
She crossed the street and was walking toward the building, when witnesses said they saw a man following her.
He then grabbed her from behind and had her in a “bear hug,” before taking her to the ground.
A school janitor who saw the incident yelled for him to stop. The girl managed to break free and the man walked away. Deputies found him later.
