Port Orange Reclaimed Water Supply Suspended

Port Orange City Hall … Daytime Reclaimed Water Suspended for Selected Port Orange Subdivisions – Suspended until Further Notice between the hours of 8am and 5pm.
Due to excessive seasonal peak reclaimed water demands, please be advised that reclaimed water service to the subdivisions listed below is being turned off during the daytime from 8am until 5pm. Suspension of Reclaimed Water service is until further notice.
Those subdivisions are:
1. Sterling Chase
2. Sanctuary on Spruce Creek
3. Cypress Head
4. Sable Creek
5. Waters Edge
6. Summer Trees
7. Pinnacle
8. Homes on Boggsford Road
We apologize for the temporary inconvenience that some customers may experience. Residents of these subdivisions will need to “test” their irrigation systems outside of the hours noted if necessary. Please ensure you notify your irrigation contractor of these limitations. All other strategies to extend our reclaimed water supply have already been implemented (specifically, interruptible customers have been turned off and all reclaimed augmentation sources activated). Collectively, these steps help to maximize our ability to reliably provide reclaimed irrigation water service to all of our customers within the normally permitted hours of irrigation.
When the reclaimed water demands subside below the reclaimed water produced, the subdivisions listed above will have their reclaimed water service restored. The Public Utilities Department wants to thank our customers for their understanding of our need to employ these temporary measures. For questions, call 386-506-5785.

Residential (12:00 midnight to 8am)
Odd numbered addresses: Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday
Even numbered addresses: Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday

One has to wonder why we are running out of reclaimed water. After all the city just spent a few million on a filter system at the reclaimed lakes. We should be able to pump all the water we need out of the lakes. There’s just one little problem. The new filter system doesn’t work. They did a startup a few weeks ago and the line that is used to pump water out of the lake floated to the surface. It has been kept secret from council and the public while they try to figure out what went wrong and they still haven’t found a solution. Sounds like another shady cover up by management. Isn’t there a new video that the city spent a good amount of money to produce about how great our reclaimed system is.
Woody can I ask you one question? Why is it that you NEVER have anything positive to say about Port Orange?? Makes me wonder…. By the way, the last time I checked, the new filter system works perfectly fine!!! Maybe you should go out there and see for yourself!!!!

I’m sure this reply will be censored (again), but you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. The system is operating, as designed and permitted. It has been used to recover over 50 MG of water since it was commissioned in the spring. The reservoir level is down to within a few tenths of the lowest permitted operating level. Conservation is necessary due to unusually hot, dry conditions.
A note to the host. If valid criticism is censored, shouldn’t untrue statements and slander also be restricted?

This has been kept secret from council and the public while they try to figure out what went wrong and they still haven’t found a solution. Could this be another shady management cover up? Isn’t there a new propaganda video telling how great our reclaimed system is? How much did that cost to produce? It’s the same old stuff, different day.
I think if there is a candidate for mayor that is worth the citizens voting for it will be the candidate that openely calls out the city manager on this debacle and exposes his lack of transparency to the public and elected officials while spending thousands of tax payer dollars on a video that portrays a non-existent success.
